It was during a breakfast with close friends that Jean learned that her friend's husband needed a kidney transplant. Touched by her friend's mental turmoil, Jean instinctively offered to become a donor. “That's what came to mind… She was like, 'Wait, I need to think about this.' But after I said that, I went all out.”
The process was challenging, but with the guidance of a nutritionist, Jean successfully achieved her goal. The successful transplant dramatically improved the recipient's quality of life, freed him from the rigors of dialysis, and marked a new beginning for him and his family.

Although Rick was not a direct match for his brother, he was able to set off a chain reaction of donations that resulted in his brother receiving a kidney from another donor.
