Actress Michelle Tratchtenberg, known for her roles in “Buffy,” “Harriet the Spy,” and “Gossip Girl,” was found dead in her 39-year-old apartment in New York City, police spokesperson.
The NYPD responded to a 911 call to a luxurious apartment in the Columbus Circle area around 8am Wednesday, police said. According to the NYPD, when officers arrived, they discovered that Trachtenberg was unconsciously unresponsive.
According to police sources, Trachtenberg's mother was the one who found her and called 911.
Trachtenberg was declared dead at the scene of one Columbus Place on West 59th Avenue between 9th and 10th Avenues. Prosecutors decide the cause of her death, but police say “the crime is not suspected” and her death was not considered suspicious.
Trachtenberg had recently had a liver transplant, but sources said the transplant appeared to have failed.
“Families demand privacy for their losses,” Trachtenberg president Gary Mantoosh said in a statement Wednesday.
Neighbors told reporters gathered outside the building that they had no obvious signs of the issue by Wednesday.
The inspector's office van left the scene just before 4pm.
One of her most popular and longest roles, Trachtenberg, was praised for her role as Dawn Summers. ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer“She lined up with Sarah Michel Guerard in the early 2000s. She has appeared in many film and television roles throughout her career, including “Harriet the Spy,” one of her first acting roles, and “Gossip Girl,” in which she played Georgina Sparks.
The creator and showrunner of “Buffy” said in a statement that Trachtenberg “will be happy and deeply missed on the set. Our idea is with her family.”
In January, Trachtenberg responded to social media fans and expressed concern about her health and well-being. It was reported at the time.
On January 17th, she shared a selfie with the “Spy Kids” star Alexa Penavegawrote, “These kids… Adults who have achieved our roots/hairs love this girl @vegaalexa.” One user said, “Michel looks sick.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alumni said, “You explained to me how I look sick. Have you lost your calendar? Did you realize I'm not 14?
She captioned another selfie in January. “A fun fact. This is my face.” She captioned the post. “I'm not malnourished. Why do you hate it? Get your calendar.”
