FALL RIVER, Mass. (WHDH) – A Fall River community is rallying around a young boy who was born with a rare medical condition and is now in need of an organ transplant.
Titen St. Martin has Kabuki syndrome, a genetic disease that requires lifelong treatment and can affect not only his appearance but also his heart and kidney function. His mother, Courtney Levesque, said he was a fighter.
“He has brought so much joy to our lives. He takes it like a champ, which makes everything we go through easier,” she said. “His strength gives me strength.”
Levesque said what the family needs now is help from the community.
“At first we were trying to do it ourselves,” she says.
Titen, who has already undergone 10 surgeries, now requires a kidney transplant, which is starting to put a strain on his family both emotionally and financially.
