INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Donor Network saved 1,214 lives through its donor network in 2025, according to a news release. Those numbers break down to 467 Indiana donors donating 1,379 organs.
Additionally, the news release cites 1,558 tissue and cornea donations from 15,734 Hoosier donors, helping to save and heal lives and restore sight.
“We continue to enhance our operational excellence, provide superior clinical expertise and provide unmatched care and compassion through all we do to save lives and serve donor families and our partner hospitals throughout Indiana,” said President and CEO of Indiana Donor Network Kellie Tremain in a the news release. “Our utilization of the latest technologies available to make more donated organs stronger and more viable for successful transplantation significantly increased our abilities to save lives.”
Indiana Donor Network also announced other major milestones reached in 2025:
Provided grief and counseling services to 3,102 Indiana donor family members.Experienced nearly 961,000 “yes” decisions to be a donor by Indiana residents; today, more than 4.5 million Hoosiers are registered organ donors.Reached nearly 206,000 Hoosiers through community presentations that offered education about organ and tissue donation and encouraged attendees to sign up to be donors.
The network also achieved Tier 1-A status in 2025, which is the highest ranking an organ procurement organizations can receive from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, according to the news release.
Indiana Donor Network also reports that more than 1,400 Hoosiers are part of 108,000 Americans awaiting a lifesaving organ transplant. Every day, 17 people die waiting for a transplant, and every eight minutes, another person is added to the waiting list.
