GOP lawmakers appeal to Trump with hospital community rules
Rep. Michael Rulli spoke about Fox News Digital about a letter sending President Trump to use enforcement actions to urge hospitals to stop organ transplants to people without the Covid-19 vaccine.
First on FOX: House Republicans are urging President Donald Trump to use his enforcement power to prevent hospitals from refusing to transplant organs of people who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19.
R-Ind. Michael Ruli, who leads the letter alongside Rep. Erin Huchin of the MP, said he was partially moved to act after Vice President J.D. Vance's 12-year-old relative was reportedly denied a heart transplant via her Covid-19 vaccination status.
“It has been revealed over the past week that several hopeless Americans have been denied a life-saving organ transplant due to Covid-19 vaccination status,” the letter said. “This outrageous denial of care has affected some of our most vulnerable citizens, including children in Indiana and veterans in Ohio.”
Houchin told Fox News Digital: “Patients, especially children, should not be distancing themselves from care due to government-imposed obligations. This effort urges President Trump to take action to prevent hospitals or transplant centers from discriminating against patients based on their decision to reject the COVID-19 vaccine.”

Earlier this month, he and Huchin introduced a bill to block federal funding for entities that refuse to treat someone based on their Covid-19 vaccination status.
“President Trump has done such a great job with his executive order recently,” Ruri told Fox News Digital in an interview. “And I'm asking President Trump if he's seen this. Please give him an executive order, because it can save someone else's life today.”
“Timing is everything. If we don't accomplish this, people's lives can be at risk.”
The letter, signed by Rulli, Houchin and five other House Republicans, cited Trump's executive order to end Covid-19 vaccine mandate at schools and revive military service members who were discharged from hospital if they didn't take the vaccine.

“The same principle applies here. These reckless orders implemented under the Biden administration do more harm than good,” the letter said.
“Your leadership has allowed our country to return to an era where our brave and talented health professionals can freely save lives without being burdened by the bureaucratic barriers that put our most vulnerable citizens at risk.”
