SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A Utah man had a series of bad luck days before Christmas. One of his cars was damaged in a hit-and-run, and a few days later, his other car was stolen while he was undergoing dialysis.
The holiday season is filled with lots of cheer and joy, but on Sunday, Kelly Clawson wasn't feeling anything.
“I was on dialysis for four or five hours, and when I came back, my car was gone,” Clawson said.
His Chevrolet Malibu was stolen from a dialysis clinic parking lot a few days before Christmas. He had no way to get home, but thankfully the police were kind enough to give him a ride.
If that wasn't bad enough, just two days ago his other car was hit.
“It would be pretty unlucky if it got wrecked by a truck in a hit-and-run,” Clawson said.
It happened on my way home after undergoing dialysis.
“There's damage to the wheel wells, damage to the side, the mirrors are messed up and buckled,” Clawson told KUTV as he walked around the damaged car.
He said he now lives without transportation because he can't drive.
“I'm scheduled to undergo dialysis tomorrow, so I'm trying to find a way to get there,” he said.

Clawson said police told her there has been an increase in car thefts recently.
Salt Lake Police issued a release on Christmas Eve saying they had witnessed 28 thefts of Hyundais and Kias in nearby Rose Park since late November.
South Jordan Police Sergeant Eric Anderson told KUTV stolen vehicles are often found elsewhere.
“People who steal vehicles are usually using them to commit other crimes,” Anderson said.
Clawson said people need to think about those affected by their actions.
“People need to know if they're stealing someone else's stuff, how much trouble they're going through. They don't realize it,” Clawson said.
Clawson hopes the old, reliable Malibu will be found in good condition and returned. That way, you won't have to rely on others to get you to dialysis appointments or other places.
To help Clawson, keep an eye out for a red 4-door Chevrolet Malibu with Utah license plate #2CPZ4.
