Former NBA player Scott Pollard has been hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, since early February, needing a heart transplant. On Friday, his wife will finally get it, she said.
“Scott wanted everyone to know that he no longer has the hair he had before his heart transplant. It’s over!” Pollard’s wife, Dawn, posted on X. “Please continue to pray for Scott, the surgeon, the donor and his family who lost their loved one. This donor gave the greatest gift of his life and we are forever grateful. ”

According to the Associated Press, Pollard, who is 6-foot-11 and weighs 260 pounds, has a genetic condition likely caused by a virus he contracted in 2021 that causes his heart to beat more than 10,000 times a day, making him unable to concentrate. He was admitted to a treatment room. Pollard’s father died from the same condition at age 54, when Scott was 16.
“I’m going to stay here until I find my heart,” Pollard told The Associated Press on February 7. [Doctors] I agree that this is the best way to help your heart recover faster. ”
Pollard, 49, was a first-round pick out of Kansas State in 1997. He played 11 seasons in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Boston Celtics. The former “Survivor” contestant helped Boston win his NBA title in 2008.
