NBA and ‘Survivor’ veteran Scott Pollard receives heart transplant

Scott Pollard spent 11 seasons in the NBA. Survivor: Kao Lung, His wife announced on social media that his heart transplant surgery was successful on Friday.

“Scott has a new heart! We were told the surgery went well and his heart is big, strong and perfectly fit. Now we move on to the important part of his recovery,” Dawn Pollard posted. .

Pollard, 47, was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s intensive care unit nine days ago in hopes of finding a heart suitable for her 6-foot-11 frame in time.

“I’ll stay here until I find my heart,” he said in a text message to The Associated Press at the time. “My heart has become weak. [Doctors] I agree that this is the best way to help your heart recover faster. ”

He has a genetic disease caused by the virus he contracted in 2021 (the disease that killed his father) and was fitted with a pacemaker before the transplant.

Pollard played for five teams during his 10-year professional basketball career, including the 2008 championship-winning Celtics team. After his NBA retirement, he branched out into the entertainment field. survivor— where he was voted off on day 27 of the 32nd series.
