SPOKANE, Wash. — Providence Sacred Heart Hospital says it will be stopping its heart transplant program and helping waitlisted patients find other facilities.
According to Providence, the pause is temporary due to “key vacancies within the program.”
Providence says it will assist patients on the transplant waitlist with transitioning to other facilities for care. Patients on the waitlist will retain their accrued waitlist time.
The hospital did not say when the program might resume.
“Providence has a long history of advancing cardiac care in the Inland Northwest, and we remain committed to supporting patients and families with exceptional expertise,” said Dr. Dan Getz, Providence chief medical officer. “Our priority is to provide the best possible care for our patients and our community throughout this transition.”
