He's not here today. this. This was a story about family, friends, friends, faith for impossible, a miracle, and so many miracles involved in the entire process. For 39-year-old Lauren Blackwell, her miracle came in the form of friendship with Meg Domingue. And at the age of 19, I discovered that this liver disorder, this liver disease, autoimmune, and autoimmune. And it affects your liver. In 2019, Lauren was diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis, autoimmune diseases, and rare liver disease affecting the bile ducts of the liver. She suffered from itching, fatigue and other symptoms for years, and needed a new liver to live desperately. She had been diagnosed with terminal diagnosis and had no intention of taking her liver. Then she passed away. So it was a very easy decision for me. She needed a liver. I had a liver. And it was really that simple. However, the process was complicated. Meg donated 60% of her liver to Lauren, but once she got inside her body, she was left with major blood flow issues and couldn't use Meg's liver. So Lauren was placed on the transplant list and waited for a new liver to arrive from the deceased donor. The doctors said they didn't realize how bad it was for me. They didn't realize how bad my liver was. The doctor said Lauren was very ill. Like this photo, they took a photo in Colorado Springs last year and foresaw what's going on. It's Lauren at the bottom of the cliff, and it's a meg at the top with his arm stretched out and pulled out Lauren up. Lauren appeared that day on the rocks in October 2023. So they prayed for the same outcome in hospital beds. On January 16th, 2024, a miracle happened. I don't think the doctor believed he would get the liver. Well, when I got 20 minutes within 20 minutes of being notified that it wasn't working, they found another. Meg's liver maintained Lauren. Until that new liver arrives. I'm very grateful. It's not the plan we thought God had for us, but it is. You know, his plans were something different. I think the thing that took Lauren there was to put her on the operating table at that point and take her there to get the liver she knew she needed. And now, four months later, Meg's liver has regenerated. She feels good and Lauren feels healthier than ever. She is now enjoying time with her loved ones and making memories. There is a new wreath in life, and a new meaning in the gift of friendship. For me, it's that she saved my life. And according to the US Department of Health, liver transplants continue to grow in the US, with more than a record number
