MUMBAI: A plumber from Surat on Sunday donated the organs of a six-day-old baby girl who was declared brain dead at a local hospital, saving the lives of three children suffering from end-stage organ failure. One of the organs, the liver, was taken to Mumbai so a 13-month-old boy with a rare liver disease could receive a life-saving transplant.
Donated organs are usually transported by air, but the 150-gram liver was transported from Surat to Mumbai on the Tejas Rajdhani Express train.
