Perinton, N.Y. — Casa Larga Vineyards hosted a Christmas party on Sunday to benefit the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, an organization that helps families with transplant-related expenses.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the family of a child named Addy, who had a life-saving liver transplant in October, to help cover her transplant-related expenses.
“Addy and her twin sister Laney were born six weeks premature,” said Andrea Telesca, a family friend and volunteer campaign coordinator for Children’s Organ Transplant Association. “They had to spend a week in the NICU before being able to go home, and then, at three months, Addy was diagnosed with a disease called biliary atresia, which is when you have no bile ducts to drain your liver. She had one procedure that unfortunately did not work, and in September, they were told that she was going to need to have a transplant, a liver transplant, and in October, she received that liver transplant. So, today is to support her journey.”
The event included breakfast with Santa, face painting and crafting.
