In the United States, more than 100,000 people are currently awaiting a life-saving organ transplant. Transplants and recovery have also reached record highs in recent years, but the number of organs is also a waste. Last year, one in five organs donated were abandoned. CBS News followed when 31-year-old organ donor Mitch Potter tried to deal with the loss and make his ultimate gift available to save others.
