Richland Center, Wisconsin (Civic Media) – University of Wisconsin (UW) Organ and Tissue Donation Program It is recognized as one of the most successful organ sourcing programs in the United States.
The Madison-based program is dedicated to saving and improving lives through organ and tissue donations, while also supporting donors' families with compassion and expertise.
Many people in the Richland County area (and Wisconsin), including Ithaca alumnus Kreg Perkins, have benefited from transplants of organ and tissue donations. Without this critical service, many local patients would not have survived.

The UW Organ and Tissue Donation team works with over 100 hospitals in Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois to promote donations. They manage the entire process of living, deceased organ donors, including providing organs for assessment, recovery, conservation, transplantation, research and education.

Their mission is to advocate for donors, donor families and recipients while educating health professionals and the public about the importance of organ and tissue donations. And even though 95% support the idea, only 58% of currently registered Americans are working to increase the number of registered donors.
