Celebrating the impact on organ donors and Yuutan

Salt Lake City – These are times when Devin Gordon can simply ride a motorcycle and get enough.

He worries that he can't do this for a long time and will not be able to get stuck inside Cross's house in the forest.

“It's been much more difficult, especially in the past year. I've been sick all along and I've started to affect my quality of life,” Gordon said.

Like nearly 1,000 other Utans, Gordon is waiting for organ donation. In his case, he needs a kidney.

“It's going to change everything,” he said with a smile. “For me, having a new kidney, it's just something I can live my life. I can become me again.”

You need a special person to donate your organs. Those who were awarded Tuesday morning.

DonorConnect We held a ceremony at the Life Monument celebration in downtown Salt Lake City and launched the National Donation Life Month.

Some of the loved ones' families who had passed away and donated their organs were some of the people who received the organs.

“Your courage and generosity will never be fully expressed through mere gratitude,” said Liani Chandler, one of the speakers at the ceremony.

Chandler received liver and kidneys donated from people she had never met. She lives for them.

“I wake up every day with gratitude to the donors who gave me more time,” Chandler said. “Time I didn't have.”

DonorConnect is an organization dedicated to raising awareness of organ, tissue and eye donations.

In Utah last year, Donorconnect had 212 organ donors with about 600 organ transplants. However, some of its biggest tasks involve answering questions about everything.

“One big misconception is that if emergency responders see their hearts in my driver's license, they won't try hard to save my life. That's not true,” said Donorconnect's director of public education.

The memorial at 500 South 300 E. in Salt Lake City has approximately 10,000 names on glass panels. Each name represents a living donor who chose to donate their organs after their death.

“They're real superheroes,” Chandler said.

Gordon hopes that one day the phone will come in his way.

“I know it's a game on standby and it might take a long time,” he said. “God works in a mysterious way and knows it works.”
