“I'm so proud of my daughter,” her mother, Aurora Masters, said, “I was already so proud of her, but she just keeps giving and that helps me a little bit too.”
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The parents of a 5-year-old girl are sharing their daughter's inheritance after she was killed in a freak accident. Fort Collins backyard.
Crystal and Tom Masters said their daughter Aurora loved to live in the moment and play on the disk swing in their backyard. On May 8, “Aurora gave me a kiss and a hug and then went outside,” Crystal said. “This was normal. This was life. Aurora was just playing.”
Less than 15 minutes later, she said, a neighbor rang the doorbell and said something was wrong.
“I saw her up in a tree with a swing around her neck,” Crystal said.
“I begged him to stop, he's a good kid, just stop,” Tom said.
“She had such a magnetic personality and such a radiant character, she was just so bright, radiant and smiling,” he said.
“She'd be standing in traffic and she'd be waving and smiling at people so they'd smile too, and she'd say, 'Dad, you've made everyone smile,'” Crystal said.
Her parents wished they could see that smile and share that hug again.
“I can grant someone else the wishes that I did. I mean, I can make them come true,” Tom said.
Her parents donated her organs to save a life.
“I'm proud of my daughter,” Crystal said, “I was always proud, but she still gives and that helps me a little bit.”

“I know Aurora's heart is beating somewhere,” Crystal said.
