Illinois program aims to increase organ donor numbers | News

WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTHI) – The Illinois Secretary of State is recruiting high school students to help promote organ donation.

Our content partner, Capitol News Illinois, reports that the new program will give volunteer credits to high school students who help organize awareness campaigns and events.

The Illinois Secretary of State is recruiting high school students to help promote organ donation.



These activities include running registration tables at schools and speaking at community events.

The Secretary of State said that over the past decade “the number of young people registering as organ donors has fallen”, despite legislation passed in 2018 allowing 16- and 17-year-olds to register as organ donors.
