‘Liver King’ Shares His Raw-Organ Diet in Netflix’s Untold (Exclusive)

Netflix is back with a new installment of UNTOLD, the hit documentary film series chronicling stories and events from across all aspects of the athletic world — and the truth of what really happened.

The latest film features Brian Johnson, who rose to fame as the ‘Liver King’— a fitness and masculinity influencer known for promoting the health benefits of what he calls “primal living.” With 6.1 million TikTok followers, his platform often showcases his jacked physique and Neanderthal-like workouts. He also boasts his raw-organ diet, citing the high nutritional content of liver, bone marrow, tongue and testicles.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive look at Untold: The Liver King, Johnson gives an inside look at his way of “ancestral lifestyle.”

“This is the way we evolved for millions of years. And it kinda made sense,” he explains. “We evolved with sun, we evolved with these sorts of organs. We never had processed food ever in our lives.”

“I threw out everything in the house. All the boxes went. There was nothing in there, just bone broth, liver and meat,” his wife Barbara, the “Liver Queen,” says. “The diet changed everything. Our life and the kids’ life right away.”

The trailer then shows their two sons filming themselves drinking a cup of raw eggs, calling themselves the “ancestral brothers.”

After drinking the eggs, the boys winced and wiped their mouths. “That was disgusting yet very ancestral,” the oldest says.

Directed by Joe Pearlman, the new documentary will do a deep dive into the Liver King’s social media rise as well as his shocking 2022 controversy, when he admitted to taking steroids after vehemently denying his use.

The film will include interviews from Johnson himself, as well as his family members and business partners.

“The ancestral lifestyle worked,” Johnson says in the clip. “It kinda made you believe in something, man.”

“He said, ‘Liver is this beautiful thing we’re all missing, that we’ve had for years but nobody’s eating that right now,’” Barbara adds.

UNTOLD first premiered in December 2021 with five films about topics including Caitlyn Jenner’s life and Olympic career, the Pacers–Pistons brawl and the life of former professional tennis player, Mardy Fish.

Subsequent volumes have explored the catfish controversy involving football player Manti Te’o, the rise and fall of sportswear brand AND1, Jake Paul’s transformation from YouTube star to boxer, the BALCO scandal and the 2005 to 2009 years of the Florida Gators football team, which included Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer.

Untold: The Liver King will premiere May 13 on Netflix.
