For many Taylor Swift fans, attending the Elas Tour is an opportunity not to be missed.
“I got a call from the hospital saying I had a kidney,” she said.
The 35-year-old had registered for a kidney transplant, but when she headed to Gold Coast Airport this morning to catch a delayed flight to Sydney, she didn’t expect it would be possible.
Just after 8:30 a.m., 10 minutes after her original departure time, her phone started ringing.
“I won’t lie, there were moments when I wanted to say no.” [to the kidney]But you know, I’m not crazy,” she said.
“I have something called IgA nephropathy, which means it’s actually an autoimmune disease that attacks the kidneys.”

For Gray, the timing was somewhat of a miracle.
“Obviously it was meant to be,” she said.
“If I was on that plane, I basically wouldn’t have been able to answer the phone because you only have 30 minutes to answer and if you don’t, you move on to the next recipient.
“I spend 15 hours a week each week, mostly on dialysis.”
Her friends have decided to continue participating in the show, but there is no bad blood between them.
“After the transplant, I was able to travel, so my friend said, ‘Let’s go see Europe or something,'” Gray said.
