(WLUK) — A Waupaca County man in need of a liver transplant and his organ donor had successful surgeries in Madison.

Andy Drath of Manawa was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, an autoimmune disease, in 2018.

Last August, doctors told Drath he would need a liver transplant and with the help of Drath’s friend, Nicole Fischer, owner of the Mill in Bonduel, she was able to connect him with a perfect match.

Mandy Williams of Bonduel answered the Facebook post about donating her liver to Drath, who was at the time, a stranger.

After a few months of testing and trips to Madison, Williams found out she is a 100% compatible match.

On Wednesday, the two underwent the transplant surgery at the UW Health Transplant Clinic in Madison. Fischer wrote, “everything went perfectly.”

You can donate to support Drath’s liver transplant recovery on the GoFundMe page created by his friend, Lincoln O’Brien.
