Cygna denies life-saving surgery for people fighting stage 4 cancer

A man fighting for his life when fighting stage 4 cancer is asking for a donation after his health insurance denied a life-saving lung transplant for him.

Deron Wells, 59, is battling advanced lung cancer, and his doctors have approved him for a double implantation, a procedure he described as “the only path to survival.” However, his health insurance company Cigna Healthcare refused to approve the transplant and emergency medical transport necessary to take him to hospital for business.

He will need to be transferred to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago for the operation. Wells was preparing to move out of UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center on Friday, but Cygna refused to compensate for the procedure and transfer. ABC7 It has been reported.

“It's really sad that my life is in the hands of these decision makers who seem to make these decisions in such a cold way,” Wells told the outlet.

His father and husband may not survive without immediate intervention, his family says.
