I decided to donate my kidneys to save my life. The proposed law will also help others make that decision.

  • Wisconsin kidney donors urge representatives of Gwen Moore to conspire in the final kidney death law.
  • The law proposes a pilot program that offers $10,000 refundable tax credits for undirected kidney donors over five years.
  • Thousands of Americans die every year waiting for their kidneys, but dialysis costs billions of dollars from the government.
  • The author argues that kidney donations should be tax-deductible, just like charitable donations.

I've decided Donate the kidneys. I was healthy, capable and knew it A single act It can save lives. I didn't just give someone a second chance. We were all sending a message that we can do deep things to each other.

Today I write to my representative, Rep. Gwen Moore, to ask co-hosts Kidney death methodand raise awareness of laws that can save tens of thousands of lives and billions of taxpayer dollars.

It is a common sense and compassionate solution that is perfectly aligned with Moore's deep commitment, equity and economic opportunity to his family. The law should be included in this year's settlement package, as the saving lives should not be postponed.

Every year, thousands of Americans die while waiting for their kidneys. From 2010 to 2021 100,000 people He died on the transplant list. There is about now I'm waiting for another 90,000. The majority are based on dialysis. It is a tough and expensive treatment that emits life and government resources alike. The federal government spends around $50 billion Dialysis care every year, or about $100,000 per patient per year.

The pilot program provides tax benefits to donors

Here in Wisconsin's Fourth Congressional District, 2,072 people are currently on dialysis, and tragically, they die at a 20% rate each year. This means that more than 410 lives are lost here every year. These deaths are largely preventable with timely kidney transplants.

Final Kidney Mortality Act will change that. Create a 10-year pilot program It offers a $10,000 refundable tax credit for people who donate their kidneys to strangers for five years. These donors are often the people who cause kidney chains and help not only one patient but many patients. The longest kidney chain in the United States included 114 recipients. Imagine the lives we can save if more people can donate.

The reality is that kidney donors currently have little or no support. Surgery, recovery and vacation work is a real burden. But a reward? In my experience, I know that someone else is living and thriving for my gifts. That feeling is valuable, but practical help for donors should not be out of reach.

Moore has long fought for working families, women and silent. She has stood up for better health care, mother support and protection of vulnerable people. As a member of the powerful Houseways and Means Committee, and as someone who has experienced the struggle and strength necessary to build a life against the odds, she sets herself up to defend the law.

Measurements encourage financially wise and morally correct behaviour

The Final Kidney Mortality Act reflects the best thing you can do when policies meet empathy. Encourage life-saving actions in a financially wise and morally correct way. Like firefighters and police officers, living kidney donors take real risks to save lives. It is when they were recognized and supported for their heroism.

Kidney donations are safe. It's brave. It's life-changing. And that is key to ending a fully preventable crisis in American healthcare.

To me, donating a real part of my organ, a complete organ, should be considered tax deductible. Those who write checks to local churches or donate physical items from businesses will receive tax consideration.

Instead of writing a check, instead of actually donating life-saving and life-saving organs, you need to get a tax credit to help with financial planning and tax implications. It's a life-changing donation.

It requires Moore's voice, leadership and heart. Please join us in the Kidney Mortality Act Community.

Let's make the exception of kidney failure rather than rules.
