The father, Danny Savage, died in the crash on Sunday, while his wife and three sons were taken to hospital.

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — An Allegan family grieving the loss of their father in a crash has said goodbye to their oldest son, who was seriously injured.

The Savage family and their three sons were involved in an accident in Fillmore Township on June 30. The accident happened at the intersection of 136th Street and 58th Avenue.

According to the Allegan County Sheriff's Office, the family was heading west on 136th Street and failed to stop at a stop sign at 58th Street, when they were struck by a pickup truck, the sheriff's office said.

The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

Family member Tina Josten said Danny Savage was killed. She said their youngest son will likely be able to come home soon, but that Danny's wife, Chelsea, is conscious but will take a long time to recover.

The other son remains in hospital in serious condition.

Josten announced Saturday that her eldest son, Mason, had died after being taken off life support, and the family has decided to donate Mason's organs.

Josten said his nephew Danny was a joker, fun-loving guy and a true family man who always put his wife and children first.
