CHICO, Calif. – A heartfelt flag ceremony will be held on Tuesday afternoon for Terry Smith, a Chico bartender who is currently on life support. Smith suffered severe injuries while attempting to break up a fight.

Smith’s brother shared that Terry was working at the Oasis Bar and Grill during a private Christmas party when a fight erupted just after midnight on December 21. In his attempt to intervene, Smith was attacked.

Smith has zero brain activity and only a 3% chance of survival, according to his brother. The ceremony offers a moment to bid farewell and acknowledge his decision to be an organ donor.

The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the garden area at Enloe Health. Everyone is invited to join in this tribute.
