MINOT, Maine (WABI) – Over the past few years, we've followed the story of a central Maine boy and his journey to getting a new kidney.
Unfortunately, he is also in trouble and needs help.
After our first story about Jamison Boutwell went viral, a total stranger from out of state saw it and donated a kidney.
Unfortunately, this spring, about 11 months after his surgery, Jamison was diagnosed with PTLD, a type of cancer that can be caused by anti-rejection drugs.
Jamison's mother said he is expected to continue treatment until October.
His family Planning a fundraiser This is to cover the cost of travel to and from Boston.
The fundraiser will be held at Minot Unified Schools on Saturday, September 28th from 9am to 1pm.
There will be a yard sale, bake sale, raffle and food available for purchase.
In addition to inviting everyone to the event, Jamison's family is also collecting donations for the garden and bake sale, and hopes to receive donations of items for a raffle from local businesses.
